Hi Dan and Esther - I love the forum, it's a great idea & I'm looking forward to it growing with the rest of GJ. I do wonder tho if there is the ability for researchers to be given the choice of posting information anonymously if they wish?
Doing so might enable them to be more forthcoming with a tricky piece of advice. What do you think? Best, Cheryl-Anne

Hey Dan...great website!
I hope this get promoted more...I heard about it from someone at the institute where I work but haven't heard of it anywhere else online. There has to be a good way to publicize it so many more people will join. It's an excellent idea. I especially like the idea of the conference section. I always hate going to conferences not knowing anyone! Anyway, good idea for the forum. mark.

Nice idea, I hope it works - very ambitious!
The possibility for being anonymous to all but admin is already there - simply create an anonymous user profile like the one I am using now (I think!). It would be good to have a 'Preview' facility on the Post (I could check my anonymity then), also an easy to use formatting system. Most users of internet forums are so used to having different options to add personality, emphasis etc to their post that without it the forum discussions might seem a bit dry and put people off. ??? EEEE (currently testing the site, may put a proper profile on later!)

Its nice to see people have started using these forums. Thank you for your support. I hope the forums will prove a useful place for people to exchange or ask for advice. We are working on the functionality of the forums and possibly the option to post anonymously. We really want to leave it up to the indidivual to decide how much information to include about themselves but as we are trying to build up a global graduate research community, it would be great if people felt comfortable enough to particpate and give some details. Let me know if there are any suggestions you would like to see.
I am working on lots of updates and new functions for the site at the moment and you should see lots of good changes soon. I hope you all find lots of new contacts through this site. Even if you don't find someone now, if you fill in your details, as the news spreads they find you!

Hi All,
This forum is great! I've sent a message to my fellow sociology graduate students about this site. :)

A good place to share views and seek help on our research work, especially distance students who do not have constant touch with supervisors and other research colleagues. Hope we will made use of this forum apart from the ones on specific areas of research.
Regards. Nana

Hello! I learned about this group in the Chronicle of Higher Education. I am a distance learner who is about to begin practicum on 9/2/08 in a local medical school. I am very excited because, in addition to providing therapy and doing testing (among other stuff), I will also assist the Director in conducting research. I obtained my Masters from this same facility and am excited to reunite with some of my former professors. I am also working on my dissertation but am frustrated at this point for many reasons. I'm writing my lit review now and have typed all my references into EndNote already. Obviously, I still have a LONG way to go! My actual study will be done via an online survey so I'm working on that as well. I'm glad I found this site and look forward to connecting with others.

Hi all!
I have just finished the first draft of Lit Rev. I am getting into the "ism" world of social research. Can any one make me a shortcut to this puzzle: phenemenology, positivism, interpretivism, ...ism, ...ism, ....ism. Bye

Good morning everyone,
I added these forums to the site yesterday to give researchers a more open place to discuss general issues, alongside the Grouptalk forums. I hope you enjoy using them. Best wishes Dan

I only joined a couple of days ago but have already found a lot of great information on the forums. Is there any way I can promote this site more amongst my university colleagues.
