Does an academic job bring prestige?

Hi Dan,

I certainly look up to my supervisor, so I think that there is a lot of prestige attached within a particular field. I think the THE article is really talking about in the wider world - do non-academics get impressed by academics.

I think that being able to use Dr. or Professor certainly carries some weight, but still in very limited circles. I'm not sure the general public really notices.
