Graduate Junction Poster Competition - 2009 /10
The 2009/10 poster competition opened in summer 2009 and entries flooded in through July and August. Dr. Eleanor Loughlin and her judging team whittled down the almost 300 entries to a shortlist for each category - Social Sciences, Physical and Medical Science and Arts and Humanities.
These shortlisted entries were opened for a public vote through November, December and January.
After a tight competition the votes were counted and the overall winner was Samuel King of Loughborough University who won an iPod Classic along with £50 for the Social Sciences Category Prize.
Second prize (£100) went to Lesley McIntyre of Dundee University and third prize (Books from Waterstones) went to Sherif Ezzeldin of De Montfort. Lesley and Sherif also won the Arts & Humanities and Science categories respectively (£50 each).
Sam King - University of Loughborough
Overall and Social Sciences Winner
I am very pleased to have won the competition, especially considering the outstanding contributions from the postgraduate community. To be candid, I think anyone on the final shortlists for the three categories could have won it, as the quality was that good. I would therefore like to commend my colleagues for the effort and sheer brilliance demonstrated through the poster creation. This is also to say a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who voted for me!
Further, I would like to commend the Graduate Junction team (including the judges) for the dedication and support for not only the Competition, but also for the creation of graduatejunction.net. The discussions, links and networks forged on the site will lead to lasting intellectual and social creations for the overall good. It would be great if the postgraduate community could continue to support graduatejunction.net.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Samuel King
