Motivation from a Distance

Motivation is something that we all struggle with. If we haven't got it we're worried about finding it and if we have got it we're worried about losing it! I was recently reading over an article on the postgraduate toolbox website, written by one of our regular contributors, Jo Draper, on "How to keep motivated when writing a thesis". The things she suggests are useful and include creating a timetable, taking breaks and rewarding yourself. These are all great ideas for keeping going and can be done whether you are studying within the university environment or not. Her final idea for motivation however is less wide ranging in reference to distance learners. All you need is a bit of enthusiasm!

Studying from home can feel like a slog sometimes and we are all guilty of a certain lack of motivation in a comfortable environment. This post is an article written for Postgraduate Toolbox by Jo Draper from Wordsworth Reading, about how to cope with working from home! So, you have enrolled in a distance learning course. All your course material has arrived. You have cleared a space in the spare bedroom and your new shiny pencils are sharpened and ready to go!
